Ream is best known for sculpting the bust of Abraham Lincoln that is now in the Capitol Building's rotunda. He sat for her in the mornings for 5 months in 1861, during which time they spoke about a variety of intelligent subjects, and became friends.
Ream met Edmund G. Ross when he boarded with her family in 1868.
While visiting Paris in 1868, Ream studied painting with Leon Bonnat.
Ream sculpted Franz Liszt, Hyacinthe Loyson, Giacomo Antonelli, and Gustave Dore.
Ream met Georg Brandes during her European travels, in 1868.
Ream's portrait was painted by George Peter Alexander Healy in 1870.
