Verona city at dusk
Verona is a city in the region of Veneto in northern Italy, located on the Adige River, 81 miles west of Venice

Though its earliest history is a mystery, it became a Roman colony in 89 BC. By the 5th Century, it had grown to be a powerful city due to its strategic location.

Today, Verona is known as one of the most charmingly romantic cities in the world, mainly thanks to the play Romeo and Juliet being set here, along with two other Shakespeare plays. It is additionally known for its castles, cathedral, riverfront, and pictaresque beauty.
