One of the oldest cities in North America, St. John's was first explored by John Cabot in 1497, after which the town was established as a fishing village.
Today, St. John's is known for its cold coastal beauty, icebergs, colorful buildings, downtown area, architecture, history, and museums.

Kenneth Oppel: My wife Philippa and I moved here around 1998, after years spent living in the United Kingdom. I was now 31 years old and had just published my first truly successful novel. I continued writing and became a highly esteemed author of young adult novels. We moved to Toronto to settle down around 2003.
Roald Dahl: In 1934, at the age of 17, I had just gotten out of school, and decided to go on an adventure instead of continuing on to university. I set out on a transatlantic voyage on the RMS Nova Scotia with a group of 50 other public school boys to go on a hiking trip in the Canadian island of Newfoundland. The voyage took a week, after which we landed in this city.
Tatiana Maslany: I traveled here in 2008 to film scenes of the movie Grown Up Movie Star.
