Shuhodo Caves
Shimonoseki is a city located on the southwestern tip of the Island of Honshu in southern Japan. It is sometimes nicknamed "Fugu Capital," as it is known for its harvesting and selling of the world famous, poisonous fugu pufferfish.

It has been inhabited since the Middle Ages, but the city of today was founded around the 18th Century.

Today, Shimonoseki is known for its beautiful caves, waterfront, natural beauty, fugu fish, cuisine, and festivals.

Jack London: I traveled here in 1904, as a journalist covering the Russo-Japanese War. While here, I was arrested by Japanese police, but released through the intervention of an American ambassador.
