Seville, spelled Sevilla in Spanish, is the capital and largest city of the community of Andalusia in southwestern Spain. It is located on the River Guadalquivir, and its harbor is the only river port in Spain. It is the 4th-largest city in Spain, the 30th largest municipality in the European Union. It is also the hottest major metropolitan area in all of Europe, in terms of climate.

Among the oldest and most ancient group of cities in the world, Seville was founded as the Tartessian city "Spal" in the 8th Century BC. In mythology, the city was founded by the god Heracles. Later taken over to become a major Roman city, it was renamed "Hispalis," a name that it  is still frequently referred to as today. From the 8th - 13th Centuries, the city was under Arabian, Moorish rule.

Today, Seville is recognized as one of the most beautiful, historic cities in the world. It is renowned for its wealth of history from various time periods and cultures, architecture, cathedrals, size, riverfront and canals, tropical climate, plaza, museums, bullfighting, cuisine, and vibrant culture and heritage.
