Marc Antony: As ruler of the Roman Grecian colonies, I traveled here, to Ephesus, in 41 BC, to rule from this city rather than from Athens. I was popular in Greece due to my embracing Greek customs and even religion, and in this city I publicly worshipped the goddess Dionysus. I greatly improved the state of Roman Greece as ruler. Later in the year, I left to Tarsus to meet Cleopatra for a diplomatic meeting. I didn't know it then, but I would never return to rule Ephesus, and after that meeting, my life would never be the same.
