Menton-france 2541437b
Menton is a town in the Alpes-Maritimes department of southeastern France, located on the Italian border and sometimes nicknamed "the Pearl of France."

Evidence has been found that the area has been inhabited since Neolithic times. Remains of Neanderthals and Cro-Magnons have been unearthed here. In Roman times, the area was settled as a stopping point on a major Roman road. However, the first major settlement began in the 11th Century with the building of a castle.

Today, Menton is known as one of the most beautiful French towns, notable for its colorful houses, architecture, Mediterranean shoreline, riviera walks, downtown area, surrounding mountains, annual Lemon Festival, and history.
