Patrick Henry: After serving as Governor of Virginia for my allowed three consecutive terms, I moved here with my family in 1779, to a 10,000 acre plantation called Leatherwood, which I co-owned with my cousin. I grew tobacco and owned 75 slaves, with 100 slaves in total working on the land. While living here, I was in Richmond much of the time, serving as a member of the Virginia Assembly. I officially moved back to the Virginia capital in 1784, when I was again elected governor.
