Macon is a town in the region of Burgundy in France, located on the Saone River and 40 miles north of Lyon.

It was founded by the Celts, under the name of "Matisco," in the 1st Century BC, and grew wealthy under Roman rule. 

Today, Macon is best known for its wine country and vineyards, as well as for its beautiful surrounding mountains and fields, colorful architecture, and history.
