One of the most powerful cities of the ancient world, Luxor was the Ancient Egyptian city of Thebes, the capital of the New Kingdom and the city of the god Amun-Ra. It is the location of countless ancient sites, including the Valley of Kings, Valley of Queens, ruins of Karnak, the Necropolis, and many more. It is the site of so many ancient wonders that it is often referred to as "an open air museum."
