Lumpkin is a small town in western Gerogia, located 24 miles from the Alabama state line.

Inhabited for thousands of years by various Native American tribes, the natives were removed in 1830. The town was established in 1829. It was named in honor of a former Georgia governor who had heavily supported the Indian Removal Act.

Today, Lumpkin is known for its crumbling and dated downtown area, and nearby Providence Canyon.
