Lumbini is a town in south-central Nepal, close to the border of India. It's name means "the lovely" in Sanskrit. It is a major pilgrimage site, as it is the birthplace of Buddha. The entire town is a World Heritage site.

It was founded sometime before 620 BC.

Today, it is known as the location of Chitwan National Park, as Buddha's birthplace, and for its gardens, temples, monasteries, sacred trees, and peaceful, spiritual atmosphere.

Orlando BloomI traveled here in 2008, as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. I spent a lot of time with the local children and native people, happy to help and learn about their culture. Also while here, I visited Chitwan National Park.
