Mansion in Lenox
Lenox is a town in western Massachusetts, located 8 miles south of Pittsfield and bordered by the Berkshire Mountains. It is the location of the grand historic mansion Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. The population swells during the summer, when this town becomes an idyllic boutique country retreat, comparable to the Hamptons in New York.

The town was first settled in 1750, when a family from Hartford, Connecticut established a general store and inn here. The town of Lenox was officially founded in 1767. It was meant to be spelled "Lennox," named in honor of Charles Lennox, 3rd Duke of Richmond, but a clerical error resulted in the alternate spelling.

Today, Lenox is known as a luxurious destination for wealthy summer vacationers, populated with mansions, high society gatherings, and sprawling lawns.
