Las-vegas-night
Las Vegas is the largest city Nevada, renowned as one of the top destinations for casinos and gambling in the world.

It was established in 1855 by a group of missionaries as a mission village intended to teach and convert the local Paiute Indians to the Mormon faith. This venture failed, and the Mormons abandoned the town a few decades later. After the legalization of gambling in 1931, a few casinos and hotels were built in Vegas, and soon began to attract much attention, eventually skyrocketing Las Vegas to nightlife fame.

Las Vegas is an international resort and vacation destination for tourists seeking gambling, sightseeing, partying, and clubbing. It is known for its architecture, shopping, resorts, casinos, luxury hotels, and street of clubs and other such establishments, known as the "Vegas strip."

People Born in Las Vegas

Las Vegas in People's Lives

Catrinel Menghia: I made an appearance and hosted the unveiling of the new Fiat here in 2012, as the face of their brand.

Hunter S. Thompson: I traveled here with Oscar Zeta Acosta in 1970, while Acosta was seeking a reprieve from the racial tensions in California, and a place that he could speak more openly about the issues taking place. We drove here from Los Angeles on a roadtrip, which would inspire me to write my most famous novel, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Acosta was the model for the character Dr. Gonzo.

Jude Law: I traveled here in 2006 to film scenes of the movie My Blueberry Nights

Keira Knightley: I traveled here in 2004 to film scenes of the movie Domino. We filmed at the Stratosphere Hotel & Casino.

Milo Ventimiglia: I traveled here in 1998 to film scenes of the movie Speedway Junkie

Natalie PortmanI traveled here in 1995 to film scenes of the movie Mars Attacks, and again in 2006 to film My Blueberry Nights. I also came here in 2010 to be a guest judge on the TV show America's Top Chef, and was "in a food lover's paradise" sampling gourment meals. I traveled here again in 2012 to speak for women's rights at an event supporting Barack Obama for president.

Olivia Culpo: This city holds happy memories for me, as I flew here to compete as Miss Rhode Island in the Miss USA beauty pageant in 2012. I won, and then also competed in the Miss Universe competition here. I won, becoming the 8th American to win the title, and the first since 1997. I was the first Miss Rhode Island to win Miss Universe.

Viggo Mortensen: I traveled here in 2011 to film scenes of the movie On the Road.

Ziyi Zhang: I traveled here in 2000 to film scenes of Rush Hour 2.
