The first settlement here was an enormous cattle ranch begun in 1882, though it failed a few years later. The town of Groom was established in 1902, and was officially made a town in 1911.
Today, Groom is mainly known for its religious landmarks, as well as for its small population, location on Route 66, and leaning water tower.
