The land of Grenada was inhabited by the Iberians from approximately 8th Century B.C., was possibly the site of Roman outpost, and fell to Arab rule around 711 AD, but the city of Grenada was not actually founded until the 11th Century. The historic citadel Alahambra, which still exists today, was a powerful Moorish palace.
Today, Grenada is known for its beauty, architecture, history, sporting events, South American inhabitants, and mix of historic Arab and European heritage.
