The California State University, Channel Islands is a public comprehensive university located in Camarillo, California. It is the newest of the 23 schools in the California State University system. The "Channel Islands" part of its name refers to its scientific research center, located on Santa Rosa Island in the Channel Islands.
The oldest buildings on campus were built in 1934 as a hospital. It began to shift into a university beginning in 1965, but was not officially founded until 2002.
