Though it certainly existed as a village before, the first record of Ayr in history is in 1315, when the first Parliament of Scotland was held here by Robert the Bruce.
Today, Ayr is regarded as a beautiful Scottish coastal gem, known for its emerald green fields, lighthouse, historic buildings, shoreline and beaches, architecture, riverfront, maritime and river-going economy, and as a holiday resort.
