People Born in Austin
Austin in People's Lives
Brooklyn Decker: I live here with my husband, Andy Roddick. Though I am constantly traveling for work as a bikini model and, recently, as a TV actress, I enjoy calling this city home. I love being a housewife and am quite down to earth and homey. Guests who visit get ice cream and wine.
Jorge Luis Borges: I traveled here in 1961 to accept a place as honorary Tinker Chairman of the University of Texas at Austin. The position extended one year. While here, I was accompanied by my mother, who, though in her 80's, appeared much younger and had the air of youth and energy about her. As I passed by with her on my arm, many students assumed that she was my wife.
Julien Blanc: I traveled here in 2014 to give seminars on how to seduce, emotionally manipulate, and sexually dominate women. However, there was an uproar over my teachings, which many alleged supported and instructed on abuse and rape. Seminars that I was scheduled to coach later in the year were cancelled.
Michael Fassbender: I traveled here in 2013 to film scenes of the movie Frank. We filmed during the SXSW Festival.
Taylor Lautner: I traveled here in 2004 to film scenes of the movie Sharkboy and Lavagirl.
Viggo Mortensen: I traveled here in 2007 to film scenes of the movie Appaloosa.
