St. Matthew's Church
Ashford is a town in the county of Surrey in southeastern England. It is 13 miles west of London, known as a part of the London Commuter Belt. It is not to be confused with the larger English town of Ashford in Kent.

A great number of Bronze Age artifacts have been unearthed in Ashford, giving in the nickname "Bronzefield." There is also evidence of settlements dating back to the Norman Conquest, and it is believed that the land was part of an agricultural village in Saxon times. The town was listed as "Exeforde" in the Domesday Book in 1066.

Today, Ashford is known for its proximity to London, historic churches, and transportation.

Ashford in People's Lives

Ruth Wilson: I was born here in 1982, the daughter of an investment banker and a probation officer. I was the youngest child, as well as the only girl, having three older brothers. I was quite young when my family moved to Shepperton, where I would grow up.
